NOBODY HAS TO KNOW

One key ingredient of Invisalign’s appeal is the fact that other people may not even notice you are wearing them. Working professionals and teenagers alike appreciate being able to fly under the radar during treatment as their smiles gradually shift toward an ideal bite.

HOW DOES INVISALIGN TREATMENT WORK?

The first step to Invisalign treatment is a consultation with Dr. Darr. He will assess your teeth, mouth, and overall dental situation to see if you are a favorable candidate. Invisalign is not appropriate for everyone—but it can fix a number of dental problems, including crossbite, overbite, underbite, and open bite.

WHAT ELSE CAN INVISALIGN DO?

In addition to the dental problems listed above, Invisalign can also:

  • REDUCE CROWDING BETWEEN TEETH
  • LESSEN UNWANTED GAPS IN TEETH
  • IMPROVE CONFIDENCE & SELF-ESTEEM

WHAT COMES AFTER THE CONSULTATION?

Dr. Darr makes sure your aligners fit well, answers any questions you may have, and advises you what comes next. The best end results come when you wear your aligners 20-22 hours per day. While that sounds like a lot, they are removable for cleaning and eating—another favorite feature of Invisalign!

OK, I HAVE MY ALIGNERS. NOW WHAT?

Each set of aligners will be worn for one to two weeks. Dr. Darr will see you for checkups every six to eight weeks to monitor your progress and give you the next sets of aligners. He will address any questions or concerns you have throughout the process—don’t be afraid to speak up!

It’s normal to have some discomfort when you first transition from one set of aligners to the next. Your teeth are solid like bones, and Invisalign moves them. Seeing tangible evidence of your smile’s progress along the way may provide comfort during the process!

MORE INVISALIGN ADVANTAGES

  • YOUR ORAL HYGIENE ROUTINE STAYS THE SAME
  • YOU CAN ENJOY YOUR FAVORITE FOODS
  • THERE ARE NO RESTRICTIONS TO ACTIVE PURSUITS
  • ALIGNERS CAN BE REMOVED FOR IMPORTANT EVENTS OR PHOTOGRAPHS

THE WAITING GAME

It can be hard to be patient when you already know how great you’re going to look (the initial consultation includes a preview of your finished smile). Even though Invisalign treatment takes about half as long as traditional orthodontic treatments, it’s still hard to wait… but you’ll love the results!

DRUM ROLL PLEASE….

It’s been a year (or a little more) and your dream smile has finally arrived—and you may not be able to stop smiling when you unveil it in the mirror for the very first time. Get ready for the compliments to start… there may even be a comment or two from people who never realized you were wearing aligners at all!

STRAIGHTER TEETH ARE HEALTHIER TEETH

It sounds crazy, but it’s true: a well-aligned bite and straight teeth mean less places for bacteria to hide.

  • STRAIGHT TEETH DECREASE TOOTH INJURY RISK, HEADACHES AND NECK PAIN
  • STRAIGHT TEETH IMPROVE OVERALL HEALTH

WILL I NEED A RETAINER AFTER INVISALIGN?

There aren’t many absolutes life, but one reliable constant is change. The world continues to move and evolve regardless of our actions, and as your body gradually changes over time, your teeth will also make gradual shifts in position.

“BUT WAIT…I THOUGHT WE WERE DONE!”

There is one aspect Invisalign shares with traditional orthodontics: retainer use is recommended following treatment. Post-Invisalign retainers resemble treatment aligners, but there is good news—they only have to be worn at night.

Keeping retainers free of bacteria is essential, but toothpaste is not the best choice. Soapy water and a toothbrush work well, or there are tablets on the market made for cleaning retainers.

WHY ARE RETAINERS IMPORTANT?

Teeth can—or will—shift back to their original position if you don’t wear a retainer. They also:

  • PROTECT TEETH FROM WEAR AND TEAR, SUCH AS NIGHTTIME TEETH GRINDING
  • PROTECT YOUR INVESTMENT SO YOU DON’T HAVE TO STRAIGHTEN AGAIN LATER IN LIFE
